Vic Viper Gradius II Model

Use the Konami code to fully power-up your assembly skills.

It seems like Atelier-Sai's Vic Viper Sky Girls model may just have been the beginning of their models from the Gradius series. Today Hobby Stock of Japan (via Kotaku) revealed dual photos of their next model: the Vic Viper from Gradius 2. This Viper is the same colors, white with blue trim, and the same 1/60 scale (almost 8") as the more anime-ish and slightly less manly Sky Girls models. Indeed, it also comes equipped with four Option pods. The Gradius II version will test your intense modeling skills in April and I'm sure Play Asia will put up pre-orders for the legendary vessel any time now.

If this really is just the beginning of the models based on the iconic ship, then I'm sure we can expect more versions of the Vic Viper, like Gradius V's Vic Viper T-301. Maybe we'll see the other lesser-known, but almost as heroic ships in the Gradius universe like Lord British, Jade Knight, or Falchion Beta.

I wonder if Atelier-Sai's license extends to other Konami-branded shooters. If it does they could have models based on Salamander (it's basically more Gradius) or Axelay. Hell, they could even do cute shooter models from the Twin Bee or Parodius series, however, models of a flying Octopus or a bunny girl riding a giant missile would be a little weird and maybe taking the license a bit too far.

Vic Viper: now infused with intense modeling action!
