Ticker Appearance Does Not Bode Well For Little Sister I found NECA's Gears of War Series 4 figures in the wild of my local Toys 'R' Us today and while I was usually impressed, I came away quite disappointed. The figure I like most from the series is the Ticker, the little Locust bug thing that explodes when it gets close to you, of which TRU had many. Well, I guess I didn't realize that NECA's Ticker was being sold just by itself, but there it was; alone inside this gigantic package containing more air than plastic. As much as I want a Ticker, I can in no way justify spending $13.99 on a figure that is 1/3 the size of the normal GoW figures. The Series 4 figures of Marcus and Dom in the Theron Guard armor are positively badass, so I could see spending that much on those. Plus, their packages contain much more plastic than air. The least NECA could have done was include a display base, or some useless accessory like half a wall or barrels. Or even made it a Ticker two-pack. The Ticker does have "motorized action" thanks to some strategically placed wheels, but you can't tell me that's where the rest of that $14 is going when you can buy a 4-pack of motorized party favor cars at the dollar store... for a dollar. Sadly, upon seeing the Ticker in its vastly empty package, I realized that the Little Sister figure in NECA's upcoming BioShock line could very well be sold the same way. I truly hope this is not the case and NECA does something I may have mentioned for the Little Sister figures. My love/hate relationship with NECA continues. Love their figures; hate stuff like this (also applies to the grunt figures from McFarlane Toys Halo line).
