Star Wars: Grievous Getaway

Summary:

Obi-wan and his big lizard try to catch General Grievous as he rolls away.

My Thoughts:

Grievous Getaway is a little mobile game based on the Grievous / Obi-wan chase from Revenge of the Sith. With that in mind you already know the game will feature a ridiculous legged one-wheel bike and a bearded Jedi riding a big lizard. At least this mediocre game is slightly better than either of those ideas.

Obi-wan must ride his lizard at fast speeds to get alongside or directly behind Grievous’ wheel bike and slash it with his lightsaber or deflect the laser fire back at Grievous. If Grievous gets too far ahead then Obi-wan loses him and he, well, gets away. Grievous has chosen a good route to escape because it is littered with rocks, water (it slows down the lizard), Grievous’ guards, spider droids, droid fighters, and pitfalls.

Obi-wan needs to get the lizard to jump when confronted with pits and rocks. However, when the lizard jumps it make the most obnoxious noise you probably hear in a mobile game. The other sound effects aren’t horrible, but there are better sounding games out there. The graphics are decent enough for a mobile game and there is a lot of detail packed into Grievous' wheel bike.

The five stage chase begins at the base or hanger where Obi-wan discovers Grievous. The chase moves into the streets of Utapau where Obi-wan receives only a ten point reduction for running his lizard over civilians. That means run over as many as you like because who cares about ten measly points. The chase continues to the outskirts of the city where Obi-wan must avoid dangerous pitfalls. Then the chase reaches the caves of Utapau and then a second cave that leads to Grievous’ fighter and the final battle.

Once you beat the game with Obi-wan you unlock the ability to play as Grievous, which is a pretty cool feature. As Grievous you’re speeding away on his wheel thing away from Obi-wan. If Obi-wan whacks him with his lightsaber too much, then Grievous looses. If you are successful in getting Grievous to his fighter then you re-write Star Wars history as the Separatist armies spread out and are victorious. Since each army was actually under the command of Palpatine, it doesn’t really matter who wins, just as long as those pesky Jedi are eliminated.
