SDCC '08 Cosplay Gallery

Cosplay is great. I love seeing fans dress up their favorite, and my favorite, characters. Some cosplay can be pretty amazing, while some can be downright horrifying. Still others can be confusing. When was putting a red dot on your head considered to be a costume? There were a ton of people with a bullet hole on their head or with fake cuts and whatnot. I though that they might be zombies at first, but then I realized they're just damn lazy. If you're going to a convention and are going to dress up, put some effort into it. Fake bullets holes and cuts are a terribly weak excuse for cosplay.

For the best girl this year I could have gone with one of the many cleavage-baring women like Morrigan or that Wonder Woman there, but I decided to go with someone that didn't look like she was doing it just to show off her goodies to the photo-crazy hordes. This year I'm going with Motoko Kusanagi. Her costume was classy, yet hot at the same time. She had some mean combat boots, too. Congrats, Motoko cosplay girl. Other great costumes were the one and only Captain Falcon, combo master Mitsurugi, and the trio of Wonder Woman, Superboy and Supergirl. Along with the cosplay, you'll also find photos of artists Ashley Wood and Jim Balent, just because they both rock supreme. These aren't all my cosplay photos as I've already posted the others in previous articles. If you have not yet seen them, you'll find links to the others at the end of the gallery.

Motoko Kusanagi knows how to look good while being safe with orange tipped guns. Best girl this year.

The hero of the future race circuits and master at showing moves, Captain Falcon. Best moves this year.

Three attractive spandex-wearing heroes means that everybody wins. Best threesome this year.

This guy's Mitsurugi was perfect.

I'm not exactly sure what they are from, but I like their style.

It's some Goth half-angel type of girl. I think.

Psylocke forgot her psychic blade to wield off fanboys.

This was some Japanese pop idol that I think was debuting a CD at Comic-con. She performed a song and dance that was quite poppy.

She doesn't look like a good girl.

It's not really a convention unless a Suicide Girl is there.

A couple Final Fantasy X girls.

I think Black Canary and young Indy is a fan-fiction somewhere. I just can't tell if she's his mom or if he just looks 12.

A couple of the many Mandalorian Commandos. They're the new Stormtroopers of the convention circuit.

Fine, here's one Stormtrooper. At least this one has a cape and a lightsaber.

I get it, Portal-lolita. Anything Portal-related is "clever."

Artist Ashley Wood as artist Ashley Wood. His hair is like his art: chaotic and beautiful.

I don't know what they're selling, but...

Artist Jim Balent as himself with his #1 girl.

One of DC's many universes must have a female Booster Gold somewhere.

Either Bender is really big or Optimus is really small.

Zatanna is trying to put a spell on you.

I think this guy is trying to be Snake Eyes, but he's wearing way too many elbow and knee pads on his arms.

This Green Lantern girl was easily eliminated by Sinestro Corps shortly after the 'con.

I think she is supposed to be evil.

I think all of Master Chief's money went into his helmet.

These girls are for something I probably don't care about.

Ms. Marvel

It's our favorite chums, Batman and Robin.

Each of these Bleach girls was at least 7 feet tall. How do four giant girls become friends and find out they all love Bleach?

I feel like I should know where these people are from.

This is the only place Wolverine can legally take his shirt off.

Yuffie is getting sleepy.

I have no idea what these girls are from. I think they're just making characters up.

The Joker in the middle was the best movie version Joker at the 'con. That Batman was a good Batman, too.
