Indiana Jones - SDCC07 Indiana Jones and Special Guest Lara Croft The fourth Indiana Jones film won't be in theaters until May 2008, but excitement for the return of the franchise got a swift kick in the Nazi at Comic-Con. Hasbro's booth was the place to be with some unexpected Indy items on display. The Hasbro booth had a big Arc of the Covenant replica on display with Anubis statues guarding the face-melting secrets within. On my first pass by the booth I spied a Lara Croft attempting to raid the Arc. That Lara has some balls trying to steal an artifact that Dr. Jones already found. Even compared to GameTap's Tomb Raider-heavy booth, it was the perfect place for Lara Croft to be. To the right of the Arc was a small part of Hasbro's upcoming contribution to the return of the franchise: Indiana Jones action figures. The figures stood atop a large pyramid set piece. The figures appeared to be in the same scale as the G.I. Joe and Star Wars figures, making Indy battle against Cobra or the Empire a feasible scenario. With the figures displayed, it looks like there will be figures from all of the movies. On the opposite side of the pyramid were the Heroes versions of three Indy characters because Hasbro loves making big properties into ultra cute forms. They already did it with Star Wars, the Marvel universe, and Transformers, so why not Indiana Jones? They will probably called Indy Heroes or something similar. Now that I think about it, Hasbro hasn't made G.I. Joe into cute little dudes yet. I'm sure they're working on it. There was also a 12-inch Indiana Jones figure kind of resting on the pyramid. There was also a girl in a tight Indy Fans tank top was handing out flyers. The flyers seem to advertise something called Indy Fans and the Quest for Fortune and Glory with random quotes from people that might be fans of Indiana Jones. I think it's some fan film about Indiana Jones fans. The flyers also exclaimed, "The Fans Are Back." Did they go somewhere? Pictures of the figures and that Indy Fans girl follow below. - Shawn - 08/07/07 |
