Red Leader Joins Master Chief and the Cast of Halo Series 8

This isn't exactly the news that we were expecting "to drive up our excitement," but it is news about new Halo figures. McFarlane Toys has announced two new boxed sets for March 2010. The first set will see the team-up of Red Team Leader from Halo Wars and Master Chief in one box. Red Leader will be in the Mjolnir Mark IV armor and have a Battle Rifle, while Master Chief will be in the Mjolnir Mark VI armor and have McFarlane Toys' first Halo flamethrower. You know, I just realized that there have been so many Halo figure series and none of them have had the flamethrower yet. In that case it's about time. That's also the best way to sell fans a figure they already own; give him a flamethrower. The second box set will be another armor pack, this time featuring a white Spartan. This set includes the Rogue, Scout, CQB, and Hayabusa armors. You may have bought the white Hayabusa a couple months ago, but this set is white with red trim, so it's kind of different. It also includes the Hayabusa katana sword. If you missed your chance to nab it from the Halo Points offer you have another chance here.

McFarlane Toys also announced Halo Series 8. Although they don't have any photos just yet, they did list the figures included in the 8th Halo series. Series 8 will include the UNSC Marine that was originally slated for Series 5, Buck from ODST, Spartan Mark IV in black (The first black colored figure! You can't even do that in the game.), the Arbiter Ripa 'Moramee from Halo Wars, the Elite Ascetic, a white EOD Spartan, a Brute Captain in VISR mode from ODST (How will this look? Will it have a neon line around it or something?), orange Elite Combat for Toys 'R' Us, Master Chief from Halo 2, and Dare from ODST without a helmet as a GameStop exclusive. Halo Series 8 is scheduled to hit in Summer 2010. Photos of the new figures will be dropping down the line, but I'm still waiting for that Warthog announcement.

Next Summer Red Leader joins Halo. No, the other Red Leader. No, the other other Red Leader.

So, did McFarlane Toys have leftover Hayabusa katanas from the Halo Points program or has this been planned for a while?

"You've bought me countless times already and countless times to come, but this time I have a flamethrower."

"Sure, give me the armor with the big red targets. Thanks, guys."
