Pac-Man Pinball -Namco (2004) -Played on a Sanyo 8200
Pac-Man's Pac-ball rolls in a mediocre pinball land. My Thoughts When you think about it, Pac-Man is a good choice for a themed pinball table. He’s basically a round ball, so hitting him with flippers and consuming pellets on his way to mega bumper scoring should make a pretty unique pinball game. Unfortunately, Pac-Man Pinball nothing special and the action is a bit on the boring side. Upon loading the game you’ll be treated to some decent Pac-Man techno on the title screen. It does not flow over into the real game though where some superbly bland sounds chime during the gameplay. This is better played with the sound off. The table has two tiers. The top tier is a dark ghost house with a parachuting ghost, airplane ghost, and a UFO ghost in the scenery. Light up the four ghosts for big points or you can shoot the ball into a certain hole for some fruity slots. There is a small line of pellets, but it is pretty difficult to aim the ball to collect them. The bottom tier contains the Pac house with Ms. Pac-Man and Baby Pac cheering you on. Here you can spell the words Pac or Fairy for points. You can also light up three fairies. However, I’m not quite sure what Pac-Man has to do with Tinkerbelle. Maybe it’s from some other Pac game that I missed or forgot about. The game really isn’t anything great. The ball physics are okay, but really fail to make it a good pinball game. I never got that pinball rush that one can get from the fast ball whacking action that many pinball games convey. Mostly, the game just bored me. Unless you’re crazy about Pac-Man pass this by. Download Pac-Man Bowling instead. Score: 4.5 -Shawn |
