Roll a 300 with the Pac-Man.

My Thoughts

Pac-Man has taken a hint from Mario and has been spotted in many other genres not his own over the past few years. I had confidence that Pac-Man Bowling would be good, because I’ve played one of Namco’s bowling spin-off before with the awesome Tekken Bowl from Tekken Tag Tournament. While it’s no Tekken Bowl, it’s still a great bowling game and time eater with the yellow fat man.

You get to choose between four characters, each with their own abilities. Pac-Man is a dirty cheater since he gets to stomp on the lane if he misses a pin or two on the spare. Not only that but he also gets a power-pellet ball. Ms. Pac Man is pretty normal for the most part, but supposedly is a little bit better at getting strikes. Pac-Baby adds bumpers to the lane if you’re a bowling wuss. Inky is the lone ghost, but has friends on the lane and as his balls (that's bowling balls, creep).

Someone keeps leaving fruit on the lanes. To obtain a special ball you have to roll over the fruit. If you need to go for the spare you’ll then have a quirky new ball. The Pacs get very slow moving turtle shells and controllable RC cars. Inky gets ghost balls that split into three when it rolls close to the pins. Sometimes a ghost appears on the lane and if it touches your ball, you’ll have some nice gutter points on your score card.

It’s pretty easy to get the hang of the game, but it will take a little while to perfect your bowling technique. You position your character and select the power, aim, and spin for the ball. It’s simple, fun, and somewhat addicting. You’ll be playing until you can get that perfect 300. Oh, there is a regular bowling option that doesn’t have the characters, but why bother with straight bowling when you have Pac-Man Bowling?

Score: 8.5
