Okkusenman: The Epic Chronicle of Legendary Saga

What if Okkusenman was an epic film like The Lord of the Rings or a game on the scale of a Final Fantasy? What would the music sound like? Because of its nature, the Okkusenman epic would require a few versions of itself. X Japan's supreme speed metal version would be a great battle or chase song. TA Music's piano / violin combo and the music box version would fit with character deaths, or characters falling in love. I'm sure even one of the many guitar solos would get their version in as a theme for one of the characters. Plus, on the soundtrack you could put one of the techno remixes on the soundtrack as a bonus track. For a truly legendary tale, though, you need a score that matches the epic feel of the film or game. Some talented Okkusenman fan has made that a partial reality. Their Okkusenman is made with some music program (no, I don't know which one it is) and is incredibly well done. While it's not live instruments, it gives us a great feel of how the saga of Okkusenman would play out.

With every film and RPG that is so epic in scope there are also the vocalized songs. This Okkusenman sounds like its being sung by a very talented choir. I can see this being used when the main protagonist discovers his true power or performs a selfless act to save the planet.

Of course, with such a legendary tale you couldn't just have the harmonious singing by itself, you need it accompanied with a matching score to give you the whole epic feel. I hate to use another Final Fantasy reference, but it's one that nearly every gamer knows and is the best example of what the Okkusenman epic could achieve: The song during the final battle of Final Fantasy VII with Sephiroth. That is an epic song. For those of you not into RPGs you could also go with the Halo 2 theme. That is another epic song. On that note, this is another video with the same choir but has an orchestra. The orchestra is a little difficult to hear, but you still get a grand feel and scale of the whole thing.

We do need to hear the orchestra more, but that could be the final battle music in the Okkusenman epic. It alternates between being slow and fast giving the story tellers enough time to devote to the main good guy and bad guy to have a typical Japanese life and death conversation between landing crushing sword blows upon one another during the faster portions. There you have it, something that could be the epic chronicle of legendary saga that is Okkusenman.
