Okkusenman Revisited

After reading the lyrics and hearing the familiar music, I had to check out the Japanese area of YouTube for any new Okkusenman videos since my first extended visit over a month ago. There have been more videos` added, but not nearly as many as there were in the initial Okkusenman rush. The first video I'll post is one you absolutely must see. After a medley of Rockman / Mega Man tunes you get to see a Japanese band playing Okkusenman live. On stage. In front of a crowd. With the lead singer wearing a Rockman costume. It rocks.

Another great video with a large groups is that of the choir from TAMUSIC. While the choir is singing, one intrepid gentleman plays the song on a violin. Okkusenman has never sounded more eloquent. It's just too bad that this isn't TAMUSIC's full choir and orchestra. That would be simply astonishing.

For other new videos, many of them are just clips of Rockman 2 gameplay with the original sound and music and no Okkusenman except in the tags, which is cheating. There is one video that has the instrumental music set to clips from a Mega Man X where X dies in many ways. The player is clearly an expert at dying in the game, although the Mega Man X games are known to be spirit-crushingly hard.

For some odd reason, there are many new videos with a version of Okkusenman set to clips from the Death Note anime. I know Death Note is great and everything, but what does Okkusenman have to do with it? There is even one where Okkusenman is put to a video of people spinning pens with their fingers. I guess that's cool. In my book, however, if it isn't Mega Man or Ultraman clips, then it has no reason to be with Okkusenman.

Here is another damn good Japanese guy playing the song on a guitar who is obviously cooler than the rest. Then you actually get to hear a good rendition of our favorite tune and a funny group one. This next video is another instrumental. I'm not sure how I missed it my first time through, since I spent many hours treading through Okkusenman territory, but here it is. The two guitarists take a some slight liberties with their version, but it's for artistic purposes and is totally solid.

There are some Okkusenman that sound utterly evil. It probably began with the previous death metal mix, but these new ones are terrifying. This first video has a scary-ass voice and I think tentacle demons burst through a portal in my closet when I played it. If you want something scarier than hell, though, here is the pop idols' happy hardcore mix in reverse. Now, I understand, Mega Man is telling me to kill everyone with my gun arm! There is also one that runs the song and video of the original screaming guy backwards.

With the original screaming guy video, the screaming guy in a group, and playing the screaming guy backwards, the circle is now complete. Or the triangle since there are only three basic Okkusenman screaming guy types. Okkusenman has ended up in the exact spot where it started its popular journey through the internet and through Japan, with its unbridled salivation for Okkusenman. I'm sure more Okkusenman videos will be forthcoming, but they will have to have something extraordinary to top what is here. Maybe the full TAMUSIC orchestra? Here's hoping.
