We will be at the San Diego
Comic-con this weekend, so here is another earlier news roundup for everyone to
enjoy until we get back.

Solid Snake
demonstrates the ultimate ball rocker in the Metal Gear Solid 4
gameplay trailer. |
-
The video of Hideo Kojima demonstrating everyone's
first look at the
gameplay of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots went up
on the internet this week and oh - my - God. Have you not seen it yet? Watch it
now! MGS4 has everything you want in a game. Statue camouflage. OctoCamo. Nut punches. Barrel
roll. Girly mags.
Flying robots. A mini Metal Gear. Big battles. Thumbs up. Back pain. If this trailer doesn't
convince you that MGS4 is going to be the ultimate ball rocker,
I don't know what will.
-
Hideo Kojima also revealed that Metal Gear
Solid 3 femme fatal
Eva will return in MGS4. You have to remember that MGS3
is set in 1964, making Eva around, 80-years-old maybe? Well, Eva's not
bad for an old coot.
-
There was even more Solid Snake action this week.
The PSP will be receiving a new Metal Gear Solid digital comic adapted from the
Metal Gear Solid 2 comic drawn by Ashley Wood. This one is called
Metal Gear Solid 2: Bande Dessinee and, like the first release,
adds sound and dramatic movement to Wood's art.
-
Burnout will be heading to mobile phones as well. I'm not
quite sure how EA intends to match the excitement produced from a session of
playing Burnout on a console. One of the best mobile racing games,
Asphalt: Urban GT 2, plays more like the SNES' Top Gear than a
current racer and Ridge Racer Mobile is sub-par. Maybe they were able
to do it right, though. Burnout Mobile will be released in
August.
-
If you own an Xbox 360 you can catch some of the action from
the
San Diego Comic-Con. Xbox Live will have downloads of panels, footage,
trailers, and some extra stuff.

The new, long awaited editions of Blade Runner were finally
revealed this week.
The Digital Bits has all the information and photos of all three editions
coming in December. There will be the two disc The Final Cut
Special Edition, the four disc Collector's Edition containing four versions of
the film, and the five disc Ultimate Edition. The Ultimate Edition not only
contains five versions of Blade Runner, but also a lenticular
flip clip, miniature spinner car, miniature origami unicorn, photographs and a
signed letter form Sir Ridley Scott all in a Deckard's briefcase packaging.
This may be the best edition of any DVD/Blu-ray/HD-DVD release ever.
-
Director Christophe Gans and writer Roger Avary, who both worked on the
Silent Hill movie,
will not be working on the sequel. That may be bad news for Silent Hill
fans, but Gans does have to work on making the Onimusha movie awesome.

Peach may
know about Rosetta, but if Mario is lucky she won't find out about the Japanese
mushroom girls he
keeps locked away for his sexy parties. From the looks of their
faces, Mario has just come home. |
-
Mario might be getting himself into some trouble.
Sexy trouble, that is. In Super Mario Galaxy there is
a new princess named Rosetta that Mario could fall for, creating a love
triangle between him, Princess Peach, and Rosetta. This could get hot.
Although, Mario's affair with Princes Daisy didn't seem to affect Peach too
much, so maybe she'll be cool with it.

The
budget for BSG: Razor was a bit less than usual, so the producers
had to find alternate means for the special effects. |
-
The first preview
trailer for Battlestar Galactica: Razor, the two-hour TV movie
focusing more on the back story of the Pegasus, aired on Sci-fi channel a few
nights ago and has made its way onto the internet.

Previously a mobile phone game, the id Software
developed first person action RPG
Orcs & Elves was confirmed for the DS. Orcs & Elves
is very similar to the mobile DOOM RPG, but obviously, features orcs...
and elves. It's good to see that one of the best mobile games will receive a
proper system release. Plus, mobile gamers can look forward to Orcs &
Elves II.
-
A cool little game called
PixelJunk Racers will be heading to the PlayStation Network. The game
looks like Midway's classic Super Sprint, but with better visuals, bigger
courses, and HD goodness.
-
Sales of the PS3 skyrocketed (at least on Amazon)
when the system dropped $100. There is a catch:
the 60Gb PS3 will only be available until supplies last. A new 80Gb
console will be introduced at $599 with MotorStorm as a pack-in.
Europe won't be getting a price cut, but will instead receive a
PS3 starter pack that contains MotorStorm and Resistance: Fall of
Man. After that whole ridiculous fiasco with the Church over
Resistance, it's nice to see Sony basically saying screw off, everyone's
getting Resistance.
-
At E3 Peter Moore announced a
Halo 3 special edition Xbox 360. It's Master Chief green,
has those Spartan "lines," and has an orange disc tray. Overall it's really
kind of ugly and is something only the hardcore of hardcore Halo fans
will buy.
-
A
History of Zelda video documentary from Japan in 2003 has
finally been translated. It is full of great information, interviews, and well
worth watching. Our thanks to Mike Darniani for the undertaking.

The previous trailers for J.J. Abrams' "Cloverfield" or "01-18-08" were taken
off of YouTube almost as soon as they were posted, but now the
trailer is officially on Apple.

We can only hope that "Cloverfield"
is a remake of the 1980 classic "Gamera VS Star Destroyer 5000." |

Sega announced that
Virtua Fighter 5 for the 360 will have online multiplayer, a
feature not currently available on the PS3 version. The 360 version will also
have further customization options no on the PS3. Who knows if and when there
will be an future update for those that got into virtual fighting early.

Simon Belmont used to
be a cool vampire hunter. Now he's just another leather-clad hero
afflicted with effeminacy issues. |
-
SOTA Toys has finally revealed their
latest series of Street Fighter figures. Previously known as
Round 5 (or series 5), they will now be called Street Fighter Revolution
Series 1, because of SOTA's new sculpting. The series will include Zangief, E.
Honda, Dhalsim, and Mika. Action-Figure.com has photos of the new figures, but
not one of Zangief yet. Poor Zangief is left out once again.

Majesco is making a new shooter for the Wii titled
Blast Works: Build, Fuse & Destroy. Dubbed a "sticky shooter" the
game allows players to absorb parts form enemy ships, making the player's ship
larger and more powerful (think Katamari Damacy in a shooter).
Blast Works also lets players to build their own levels, enemies, and
ships. The graphics have a simple geometric style to them and the game should
be out this Fall.
-
The
Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix update for this week
is a comparison of the old and new T. Hawk and a black & white frame of Sagat.
T. Hawk looks pretty ass-kickin', but only a b&w for Sagat? Curse you, Capcom,
you are a vile temptress. The update also shows us how the design of the new
HD frames is accomplished. Good info, Capcom, we take back the vile part.
-
Ultimate Mortal Kombat is headed to the DS this November.
The game will have the arcade version of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
and Puzzle Kombat, the MK version of Super Puzzle
Fighter II Turbo. Plus, it will feature wi-fi multiplayer. This all sounds
good and hopefully it won't end up sucking like most of the
portable Kombat games.
