Some of the silhouettes
are so obvious who they are, Capcom might as well just have outright
announced them. A few are slightly mysterious, at least.
|
-
Capcom officially announced
Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds which will have comic-book ink
style look. Of the 30 characters that will be in the game, the known
characters so far are Ryu, Wolverine, Hulk, Morrigan, Iron Man, and Chris
Redfield. Suspected characters are Felicia, Frank West, Chun Li, Trish, Dante,
Deadpool, Captain America, Doctor Doom, Super Skrull, and Dormammu. MVC3
will use the MT framework engine used in Resident Evil 5 and Lost
Planet 2, but will be a 2D fighter in a 3D world like Street Fighter IV.
For music, there will be 100 tracks of new and remixed songs. One of them just
has to be a remix of "Take Me for a Ride."
-
From
Capcom's Captivate 2010 event, they also a announced Ghost Trick:
Phantom Detective, co-op for Dead Rising 2, a North
American release for Okamiden, and free Super Street
Fighter IV tournament DLC.
-
The PS3 version of
Final Fight: Double Impact has DRM, but Capcom didn't tell anyone
about it before it
came out. It wouldn't be such a huge issue, but to even play the game you need
a constant internet connection. Bad move for such an awesome game.
-
At the Super Street Fighter IV Fight Club in LA, SF champs Daigo
Umehara and Justin Wong had epic
SSFIV exhibition matches. The ending of their exhibition was
amazing. Unfortunately, some jerk
stole Capcom's laptop and cameras while everyone was leaving. How in the
frak does that happen? Were there no Capcom people near the cameras at the
time?
-
Street Fighter High is exactly how it sounds. It takes the Street
Fighter characters, even Juri and C. Viper from IV, and puts them
in the dangerous world of high school.

Marvel is thinking about doing
lower budget movies for some of their second stringers, like Dr. Strange,
Dazzler, Luke Cage, Ka-Zar, and the Power Pack. I could go for a Dr. Strange
and a Dazzler movie, but let's just hope the money is
used wisely and these don't end up looking like SyFy Originals.

What you need to know
about Gears of War 3: Dom has a fuzzy beard. That is all. |
-
The big reveal was spoiled last week, but bow there is a proper
Gears of War 3 debut trailer that shows us a number of
things to expect in the last chapter of this trilogy. The female Gear Anya
Stroud introduced in the Gears of War comic series will be in the game,
possibly along with other female Gears. Like the Elite from Halo, the
Humans and Locusts unite, probably against the Lambent. There will be 4-player
co-op. Most importantly, however, Dom now has a bigger and fuzzier beard. By
the way, I call Anya.
-
A sentient set of Rathalos Armor from Monster Hunter is the newest
exclusive Lost Planet 2 guest character.
Rathalos will be in the Japanese PS3 version, but Capcom will most likely
be brining it to North America, too.
-
Super Meat Boy developer Edmund McMillen has an interesting and funny
look at the
evolution of difficulty in games.
-
Aerialbot Air Raid and Stunticon Breakdown are the latest two Transformers
to be announced for War for Cybertron. If only one Aerialbot and
one Stunticon are in the game, though, it means we won't see any Superion or
Menasor action.
-
StarCraft II has somehow been
rated Adults Only in Korea, which is funny because StarCraft is
pretty much the only game that's played over there.
-
Japanese gamers are pissed that the new Xbox 360 side-scrolling shooter
Strike Witches is being sold at full price (around $80) when it looks
worse than a PSP game. I'd be mad, too, if I cared about Strike Witches.

Here are all of
Mattel's SDCC exclusives that you will not be able to get. I like that DC
Infinite Heroes Starro set, but I don't really want to stand in a line for
hours just to get it.
-
Sideshow Collectibles has announced their
SDCC exclusives. The Mouser is cool.

I was expecting a tasty
hamburger or piece of chicken in the barrel, not all this awesomeness. |
-
Capcom makes some awesome press kits, but the
Final Fight: Double Impact press kit is their best yet.
Housed in a foam rubber breakable barrel are Poison's "It's a Trap!" hair
coloring, a Mike Haggar for Mayor pin, two arcade tokens with FF and
Magic Sword images, a reversible t-shirt (Re-Elect Mike Haggar on one
side, MS on the reverse), and the soundtrack on a cassette tape with
FF music on one side and MS on the other. Looks like it's good that
I haven't thrown out my cassette player yet. Capcom had made their press kits
available to fans, so it's only a matter of time before this pops up on the
Capcom Store.
-
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker will have a
Monster Hunter mode where Snake can hunt two huge monsters with the
help of the lovable Felynes. If that's not enough cross-game
promotion,
Peace Walker will also have interactivity with Front Mission: Evolved for
the PS3. You'll be able to equip your Front Mission mechs with pieces from
the Metal Gears from Peace Walker. Man, these features really make me
wish the game was on a proper console instead of the PSP, but now I'm going to
have to get a PSP. Also, the MGS:PW CD single of the song
"Love Deterrence" has a slip-off top for the character Paz. Since you can
see through clothing in the game I guess you might as well be able to do it on
a CD cover.
-
The big
Gears of War 3 reveal was spoiled by a brief ad on Xbox Live. The game
will be out in April 2011.
-
The classic Rush 'N Attack is making a comeback with
Rush 'N Attack: Ex-Patriot. It looks a lot like Bionic Commando:
Rearmed and Shadow Complex.
-
Compile Heart is making
a game about the videogame industry. It will be an RPG of sorts with four
worlds with each world has a goddess who wears an outfit based on a PS3, Xbox
360, Wii, and the R4.
-
The Wii version of Transformers: War for Cybertron
has been
renamed Cybertron Adventures. Will it even be the same game? Meanwhile,
Amazon's pre-order bonus for the game is
Demolisher, who is not nearly as cool as GameStop's Shockwave.

A new Star Wars animated series is in the works, however,
this will be a comedy series with Seth Green and Matthew Senreich having
creative involvement. I'm not sure if this is such a good idea because the
whole Star Wars comedy thing could get over-saturated. Aren't the Robot
Chicken and Family Guy specials enough?

That faceplate may end up
on eBay, but it's still awesome to see a Limited Edition for a niche
shooter in the U.S. |
-
Surprisingly, Death Smiles is actually getting a
Limited Edition version in the U.S. The LE will contain the soundtrack and
a faceplate for only $49.99. I was expecting to pay $60 for the game itself,
so this is great news for shooter fans. For April Fools, Aksys posted the
BDSM Über Edition with angel wings, a whip, a coffin, a collar, and creepy
boxer briefs that look like panties. That's almost creepier than the furries I
saw at WonderCon. Almost.
-
Bungie's April Fools joke was adding Chess to the Halo:
Reach multiplayer. They should think about actually adding it, though,
because I would love to play Halo Chess.
Bungie has also detailed a lot of the
new stuff we'll be able to do in the Halo: Reach beta/multiplayer.
-
I can see a lot of people wearing this
Mega Man hoodie, but it's just a concept prototype right now.
-
If Bayonetta was on the Master System it would look
like this.
Movies
-
If you weren't able to see it at WonderCon, the
Resident Evil: Afterlife trailer is now on the internets. It
has more things from the games, so hopefully it'll be better than the lat two.
All that bullet time slow motion is really off-putting, though.
