NECA Begins Their Street Fighter IV Repaints

It was only a matter of time before NECA started releasing alternate colors for their Street Fighter IV figures. The first three repaints revealed are Ryu, Ken, and Crimson Viper. Each character is wearing the secondary color you would expect from the many games, with Ryu in black, and Ken and Viper in white. Ryu and Ken are standard repaint fare, but the Crimson Viper figure looks pretty bad in white because all the articulation lines really stand out now. The original figure wore black, so it had the advantage of somewhat masking the lines a bit. While Ken is also in white, his Gi covers up his waist, so all you see are his knee joints, which look fine. Repaints are a necessary evil for Street Fighter figures and I wonder if NECA will go the SOTA route and release a ton of alternately colored repaints or just stick with each character's main secondary color. Personally, I would much rather see the characters in their alternate costumes from the DLC packs, like the Guile as Charlie SDCC 09 exclusive. Those would at least make me interested in collecting Street Fighter figures again. No release date for these has been announced yet, but there will also be repaints for the series 2 figures of Chun Li, Akuma, and Guile. (via Toy News International)

A lack of color makes for a somewhat bland-looking fighting trio.
