Mushihime-sama Futari will be Region-Free Because of lots of feedback from overseas fans, shooter developer Cave was deciding whether to start making their games region-free. At Tokyo Game Show, Kotaku's Michael McWhertor asked Cave's Makato Asada about it. Short answer: Mushihime-sama Futari Ver. 1.5 will be region-free. "So for this time, as a test, we're going to make the game region free so that overseas users can play it," said Asada. "By making Mushihime-sama Futari region-free, what we're doing is measuring the amount of overseas users." If you love shooters, import this and we'll be able to get more region-free Cave shooters without having to buy a Japanese Xbox 360. Or, even better as Asada continued, "This will have a direct impact on whether Espgaluda II and other titles will be localized for America." It would be a remarkable triumph if other Cave games were actually localized because we wouldn't have to pay the hefty import prices. Which ever route Cave takes, be it region-free games from now on or actual localization of their games, I'll be happy. It's time to prove that shooters can be a viable market, so order Mushihime-sama Futari Ver. 1.5 and we'll all thrive in more Cave awesomeness in the future. - Shawn - 09/28/09 |
