In quite a game genre-bending twist, Famitsu has revealed SNK's next game starring King of Fighters characters... but it's not a fighting game. It's a shooter. A top-down 2-D shooter where KoF characters fly like jets (via Kotaku). I'm no stranger to shooters with flying characters, but in those games' universes the characters can fly; The KoF characters are street fighters that lack the high-in-the-sky ability. The tentative title is King of Fighters: Sky Stage and the game will be heading to Xbox Live Arcade at an undisclosed date and price. The two screenshots show Kyo and Athena shooting off their signature fireball-esque attacks in hyper-rapid succession. We can't tell what they are fighting because all there is in the screenshots are them and some mighty explosions. King of Fighters: Sky Stage is utterly bizarre, but looks like it will be supremely awesome in its absurdity. What a perfect follow-up this could be to KoF XII.
