Expo TV In this crazy age of Internet 2.0, everyone is looking for a way to come up with the next popular website to make themselves a billion dollars. I ran across a niche site the other day called Expo Television that is both dumb in theory and rather brilliant in execution. The whole idea behind Expo TV is that users can upload a video of themselves reviewing a product. To encourage users to upload videos of themselves reviewing practically anything in their house, they can earn up to ten dollars a review. Plus, the more times that review is watched, the more money there is to be made. Like I said, it sounds stupid, but I grew addicted to watching what essentially amounts to really crappy commercials. I finally realized the brilliance of the site after finding this woman:
It would be very easy to make fun of Hunted399, but I won't. This woman is a genius. On a site full of boring jerks talking about toothpaste and hair gel, she sets herself apart by playing up her very obvious weaknesses. She cleverly centers her webcam on her enormous girth without shame as if to say, "Yes, I am an enormous whale who sounds like a red neck talking about grits, but I dare you to find something better than this on broadcast television." Not to be content to be a one hit wonder, Hunted399 made a video praising Axe Touch Body Spay that is almost tragically poetic:
Now if you liked these videos (and really how could you not), you haven't lived until you've heard this woman say, "fever blisters." I swear, this woman turns reading a products description off the package into an art form. Other users have also carved their niche on the site to rise themselves above the rest of the standard reviewers out there. How about Djgooch who breaks about every single stereotype ever to review the Build-A-Bear Workshop teddy bear:
I think we've all learned a little lesson about judging people. Thank you Djgooch, and thank you Expo TV. - Paul - 08/29/07 Tags: expo tv internet fat viral video
