Day of the Ninja 2007

Have you hugged your local ninja today?

Today is the annual Day of the Ninja, a day full of ninja-ry ninjitsu of ninja-fied ninja-ness. I didn't know this day existed until I stumbled upon a random ninja article last year. Last year was a dark day for the ninja. The ninja were F'ed in the A by pirates because Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest was released on DVD. This year, this Day of the Ninja landed on a Wednesday, successfully avoiding another pirate DVD-related sneak attack. Or so the ninja thought. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End was released on DVD (and Blu-ray) December 4th, the day before the glorious Day of the Ninja. That's pretty much the same thing that happened last year! Ninjas are screwin' up!

The extra day from Pirates to ninja did help out the ninja a little. Some worthy ninja-related news came out today such as a new trailer for Ninja Gaiden 2, and EA revealed screens and info on Ninja Reflex. The best ninja news today, though? Team Ninja head Tomonobu Itagaki was cleared of all sexual harassment charges! That makes this Day of the Ninja one of the best ninja-themed days.

However, Itagaki being found innocent of stealthily touching breasts is small shuriken to most of the rest of the world, which is all up in a Pirates frenzy, watching Pirates movies back to back to back. The ninja clearly need help once again. Ninjas really need to make up for the past two years of Pirates ruining their own day. Should you see a ninja on your travels this week be sure to give that ninja a hug either in an apologetic manner for Pirates or in celebration for Itagaki. Ninjas need hugs, too.
